Folks, I recently got a gold toned Columbia tone-arm and reproducer that I hoped to use to help me along with a table top Columbia I'm working on. I was surprised to find it was brass, not potmetal, when it arrived. Sean told me the early ones are brass. Well I hadn't paid much attention (Don't know how I missed it!) but the tone-arm from my little Eclipse is brass as well! How short a time were these made in brass? Anyone know? Gold-Tone Set Top One-Eclipse/Bottom One-E-2 So I guess it's the elbows that are mostly the problem. I sort of already knew that, but It's an interesting distinction. Regards, J.

Here's a question: how hard would it be to manufacture a run of replacement elbows out of better materials?

Walrus, Probably not that hard, but you have more than one type which would entail different castings; so you need more than one model. Shenandoah Restoration makes one, a quick Google search revealed. I can tell from the description or photo if they make both types or not. Regards, J.
