Mike,
#2267 should be "Night Of Gladness" by the Promenade band. A BA by Edison rel. 5/14. The last two were made by the Albany Indestructible Record Co. in Albany NY and are 2M celluloid cylinders. Black cylinders do not always mean 2M, most notably celluloid cylinders. U.S. Everlastings (always black) are marked 4M on the title end and Albany Indestructibles are also marked 4M and are in the 3xxx range for 4M play. Albany also made a pale blue celluloid cylinder for the Oxford (Sears) label.

Bill -- Thanks for correcting my geographical error! My wife was talking to me while I was typing that reply and I was distracted. Luke W.

Mike -- What part of the country are you in? It would be good for you to visit collectors in your area for a hands-on crash course. Luke W.

There are LOTS of collectors in greater NJ, and some incredibly important collections. I would suggest you join the Michigan Antique Phonograph Society (MAPS) which has become the pre-eminent collecting organization in the country with local chapters around the US. They don't have a NJ chapter, but you should be able to make contacts through their membership roster. Here's the website: www.michiganantiquephonographsociety.orgThere is also the twice yearly Wayne, NJ phonograph show: www.antique-sound.com, the Danbury, Conn. show: twice yearly, next one April 6, 2008, and the big one -- Union, Illinois June 14-15, 2008. Attending shows is a great way to see (and buy) incredible stuff and meet people. Luke W.

I have several example of different types of cylinders. From som early Brown Wax, and Gold Moulded, to the Early Ambrols, and a Blue Amberol. I now have some Everlasting, and Idestructable as well. Altohough, the Everlasting are Indestructable's anyway.
