I have a chance to buy this, but it's a distance from me and I have nooo idea what it is before I take a long trip to see it. I asked the guy who has it for the model number...and he tried to take a photo and it came out blurry...sigh.

Your looking at a Edison A 100 "Moderne . Made in late 1915 according to "The Edison Disc Phonograph". Its basically a table top type model with spindle legs. The book says:
"single spring, Horn 13 /12 x 9 1/4. Later ones had a 100 horn. Came in Mahogany, Oak, Golden, weathered or fumed. Metal parts Nickled.
Unless you really just want one the sound is not going to be something to write home about.

Larry,
Many thanks. I'm not excited with it...I want a C-250 or C-19. Found a C-19 in Goldsboro, NC...but I don't think it's worth $450.

No, I don't think it's worth $450 either. They're not a bad little machine in a smallish room, but as Larry says, they nothing spectacular. They were one of the first DD uprights, and were only produced for 3 years. They sold fairly well, but the lack of record storage space & legs that were easily broken in transit spelled the end for the A100. For that sort of money, I'd be wanting an early A100 with the guilding on the bedplate & the optional extra record storage box that screwed to the shelf.
This is my A100 to give an a rough idea of the sound quality.
