Im just curious- how many different "special amberol" sets were available, and how many cylinders were in a set?

They were available in both wax and blue amberol. The blue amberol special ones are much harder to find.

Shane, The "Special Amberols" were only sold with the 4 minute attachment that debuted in 1910 designed for the two minute machines to upgrade to the new wax 4 min cylinders. The price was $1.00 for each. They were lettered from A-K and this carried over in the BAs. A: The Four Jacks-New York Military Band B:Father's Eccentricities-Murray Hill C:If I Must Say Fairwell-Manuel Romain D:The Ninety and Nine-Edison Mixed Quartette E:Scenes That Are Brightest-Benne Henton F:Two Rubes Swapping Horses-Porter & Meeker G:I'm Looking For A Sweetheart-Jones & Murray H:Tramp!Tramp!Tramp!-Harlan & Stanley J:The Hermit's Bell-American Symphony Orchestra K:The Peerless Minstrels-Peerless Quartette & Co. There was no "I" cylinder released. I've had all of them at some point, but I've only kept B,F,H, and K as the others didn't do anything for me. This is a pic of my "F" special wax amberol. The BAs used the same style box with the inclusion of blue on the label. I run into them on occasion so I'll pick them up for you if interested. Bill

Thanks for the list Bill. I've only got one as well Rocky- Two rubes swapping horses. I never knew that special blues were made. I'll have to keep an eye open for one of them!
