BillS,
Thanks for the tips on sound.
I am a horologist and have access to clock oils. I believe they are similar to sewing machine oils.
Been doing detailed cleaning and will do more before I begin the reassembly.

The Mandrel Shaft (thank you for the correct terminology) is not bent or damaged. Ass you have suggested, I will work around it.
I have successfully dismantled the Amberola and have cleaned all the components. Now to the reassembly. What lubricants are suggested? It appeared that a black lithium like grease was used by the previous owner.

I am beginning a restoration of an Amerola 30. My first task is to take it apart to clean and inspect each piece. I have managed to get everything removed from the base plate with the exception of the center shaft on the to side that holds the cylinder. Image attached. Does this screw into the cast post or should attempt to drive it out. I have loosened the nut on the end. Thanks for the help...I will have lots of images and questions as this process progresses. By the way, is there an exploded drawing the names all the components somewhere? I want to learn and use the proper nomenclature.

Thanks BillS for the reply. I am familiar with the techniques that you described and will begin the process today. The veneer is in good shape. The finish is very dirty. I will see how the GOOP works and then evaluate the need for further finish work. THe key word in you response was "shellac".
Tomorrow I will believe to begin making sawdust fabricating the cabinet.

I am restoring an Amberola 30. The original finish on the oak case is in rough shape. I would like to refresh/restore the finish. Does anyone have any details about the finish? This image is from the internet. I will be building a new cabinet like this to display the player and store the cylinders.Whatever the finish applied/restored on the player will be matched on the cabinet. I will try to match them (color, finish and age). I don't really want them to look brand new.
Thank you to all with inputs and suggestions

As I am restoring what I believe is an Edison Amberola 30, 4 minute player. I have a few cylinders; however, I am in search of one special Edison blue amberol. I am on a quest to find Edison blue amberol #2239 - My Old Kentucky Home (Fantasia) by Edison Band. You see I live in Kentucky and once my player is on display, there is no better tune to play for my guests to appreciate.
Thanks for looking!

Thank you for the Welcome. New here and thought I would start with a simple request.
As I am restoring what I believe is an Edison Amberola 25.
Thank you all for your help in this my first quest here on the message board.
