Frow lists the three Edison LP consoles on page 173. The illustrations are just sketches, not photographs. I just purchased a C-1 (100 horn) model, and everything looks all original, including the original packing slip. The medaillions on the grill are horizontal. Frow's sketches shows them as vertical. There is no indication that anything on this phonograph has been modified, nor can the panels be moved from vertical to horizontal. So, folks, does anyone here have a C-1 with vertical decorative medaillions?

Hi, and welcome to the board! Could you post some photos of the grille? I've not seen a 1C in person, but have observed a few 3Cs and C4s over the years. They all had the central medallion positioned vertically with a decorative "rope" border around it and 4 decorative pieces at the four corners.

That's a very interesting point. Frow's illustrations have been cropped from the original Edison publicity leaflet announcing the introduction of the Long Playing record and the four console machines. The picture of the Console No.1 clearly shows the decorative motif being in the vertical position but like Bill, I've never seen a Console No1 in the flesh so I'm unable to verify if, at some stage, the Edison company changed the alignment of the motif. Personally I wouldn't worry too much but just sit back and enjoy the wonderful but frustrating world of the Edison Long Player.

Ok, show me how to post a picture. The picture from the seller I got it from is at: (Item #300851970180) www.ebay.com/itm/300851970180?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648I found an Edison LP years ago in a pile of DDs, for $3. 10001. Over the years, I collected 6. The player is in top condition. Even the springs do not thump. All 6 LPs play with just one skip on one of them. The 6 which came with the player (half duplicates) have more wear. But, given what has been written about the LP players, I am really impressed. The volume is fine, but the selection of music is, shall we say, limited. I've had the A100 DD since about 1948, so I am familiar with Edison. I have a number of cylinder Edisons too.

A different C-1 has appered on Ebay. It also has the medallions are mounted horizontally, just like mine and unlike Frow's illustrations. Frow does not have a picture of a C-1, just sketches. It looks like Edison's production models are different from the drawings in the book.

A GREAT color photo! Great to see an Edison LP phonograph with all those grille decorative elements still intact; so often you see machines with parts of them missing (as if they had been glued on the cloth and eventually the glue gave way).
Am so glad to be among a group of Edison LP enthusiasts.
I only own four Edison LPs thus far, but in a couple days will visit a dealer who has several. BTW, I have an S-19 that I have upgraded to LP capability.
