Hello, At the flea market today, I saw the following: a Home and a Standard. The seller wanted $500 for the Standard and $600 for the Home. Here are my questions: What is the Standard worth? It plays well, is in nice condition, and is quite loud. What type of witches hat horn is that? It is 18", but I thought that most witches hats were either 14" or 24" and were totally straight. This one has a slight bend in it where it connects to the Model C reproducer. What is the Home worth? It is in nice condition (however the belt looks a bit worn out). It plays well, but is a bit quiet compared to the Standard. It might be a reproducer issue (it has a Model C) or it could be how that horn is connected to the reproducer (a little rubber hose). What is the story with that Morning Glory horn, it looks a bit big! Also, look at the wooden stand for the horn, that is unusual, right?

As for the Home, that crane looks a little suspicious: I have never seen one with a wooden base, or a support ring screwed into the case like that.
The MG horn looks like a typical after-market item: Edison MG horns usually have concave edges on the petals, and were marked, IIRC...
As for the witches' hat: 14 inches would have been the correct size. I have no idea what that bend is doing there; is there a kink in it, where it might have been damaged?

Hi, I can't help with prices but the crane being screwed in the case of the Home certainly reduces the value. I think it is an original crane with homemade fixture (parts that attach it to the machine). the rubber connector is plain ugly and would have to be replaced with something more correct and you could also get a new belt at the same time. I'd like to have a better look at the standard's horn as the tip looks a bit odd.

LOL!!! I'm really digging the Frankenbrola." I have to admit, this is the first Amberola I've seen that has been converted to a disc player. Ya gotta wonder what that BA sounds like on that 2M Standard!! Personally, The only thing I would buy from this vendor from what I can see is perhaps a cylinder. Everything else has been hookey-dookied. BillF
