I recently bought cylinders in ebay. 1. When was the cylinder in photo 1.2 issued? ( No mark in the rim) 2. Re box with red color in upper part in photo 3 , was this made in USA for exporting or made in Europe? Any infrmation on these would be highly appreciated. Thanks. Tony from Korea

The cylinder is an early "Gold Moulded" record from about 1902 - 04, before end titles were added.
There should be a lightly engraved catalogue number in the blank area at the end.
The box dates from 1909 - 1912; it may be European, as I have not seen any American boxes with the red lining.

Thanks, Bills.
What do you think : Red lining box is made in Europe or it's made in USD for exporting to Europe?

Early Edison boxes were made in Europe but form a certain time onwards they were made in the USA (as far as I know) and exported to Europe. To my knowledge the two final versions that have "Edison Record" and "Edison Standard Record" on the label were made in the USA for all parts of Europe as British, German and French boxes of that type are identically (apart from the lid label of course that was still in the various languages).
