Can anyone tell me with certainty, what is the Standard model that had what is referred to as the short case. I need a complete set of works for an existing case and i don't want to kake an error in description.
Thx

Hi billymurray. I'm not familiar with the term "short case". "Tall case" on the other hand refers to the case that the model B and the early "C" and "D" machines had. A picture of what you have will probably give me all I need to I.D. what mechanism you need. Regards, Martin

It is the case/model where the crank hole escutcheion meets the top of the case as opposed to being farther down the side of the case

My guess is that you have a New Style case for the Model A. It is shorter than the Tall style. It should have a Banner decal on the front. The bedplate should attach to the wood bedplate frame with either 4 screws (at the corners) or 3 screws (2 in front and 1 in the back, middle). Here is a link for an article that will allow you to visually compare the different cases and models: www.antiquephono.org/spotters-guide-edison-standard-phonograph/Good luck with your project! Martin, You are correct, I looed at the page and it is referred to as a Standard Model A in the new style. Now for the hard part, locating a set of works for my case. I have carried this thing around for 30 years, I suppose I should get rid of it or make a machine. And before I forget, thank you.

The works can eventually be found, but, not cheaply. They come up occasionally on ebay. You might be better off selling the case you have.
