Hi
I recently picked up an Edison dance reproducer, unfortunately the previous owner had tried fixing it.
They removed the stylus and weight, looks like they didn't know that there was a spring on the back of the diaphragm, so they pulled on the connecting cord and broke it.
What I need to know, where can I get a new connecting cord from diaphragm to stylus? and how do i release the spring from the back of the diaphragm? so I can replace the gaskets.
I remember years ago Dan use to restore original diaphragms, is there anyone doing that these days? mine is a little warped.
Thank you in advance
Cheers Marcel

Marcel, I have made several diaphragms for Dance Reproducers and the owners were pleased with them. In one case I made a small hook on the back to use the spring again, on the other we decided that the spring was quickly dropped by Edson in the creation of the latter Edisonic Head. That pretty much said the spring was probably more of a gimmick than an improvement in sound. To get at the spring from the back you have to remove the screws that hold the top section of the reproducer to the lower part an then the spring can be accessed. Once you have it disconnected you can restore it as standard reproducers. I would go that way if you do decide to replace the diaphragm. If you google dance reproducer there are several videos put up by one of the owners of the machines I made their diaphragm for.
