Hello, I have an Edison Standard Phonograph that originally belonged to my Grandfather. Based upon what I've read on this forum, it seems to be a "B" model. Serial number is 527506. It worked previously, but when I last tried to wind and use it, it made a rather loud metallic "unwinding" sound, which leads me to believe that the spring has broken. I'm fairly mechanical, but wondering if I should attempt this repair myself, and where to get parts. It likely needs other parts replaced or refurbished as well. Photos attached. Thanks!

You might try thephonographshop.com ...
Your first step might be to open the spring barrel, to see whether the spring is broken, or merely came unhooked.

Yep, You most likely broke the Mainspring..Probably at the hook tab.. Remove the entire Mainspring barrel (but not the Mainspring) and send it to Wyatt Markus up in upstate NY at: edisondiamonddisc.wixsite.com/edisondiamonddiscHe'll wind and install a new mainspring in the Mainspring barrel. It will save you lots of grief. He'll probably charge you $110 bucks...and ship it back to you. What state are you in?? ) Tony K. Edison Collector/Restorer Melbourne, Florida
