hey guys----------- maybe the person bidding on this cylinder is the C.E.O. of Citibank! this is where our bail-out money is being put to use. but as a personal note, i want to thank all of the people on this discussion site that have helped me with my, at times ,dumb questions this past year. to everyone on this site, both those i have had contact with and those i have not but look forward to, HAPPY NEW YEAR---and make it a healthy and safe one. i am a rookie to this hobby and do not have much to offer as far as knowledge in this area but by this time next year i hope to be half as smart as all of you. your friend michael

This board as well as other are here to share what we know as well as what we don't know. Bill, that is insane for any BA in my book, but one never knows! I don't think there's a recession for folks who have enough money to consider paying that much for a song! ;D I wonder what it's reserve is?! Regards, J.

John, I suppose where there was only three more released after this one with the production around 100 per as is claimed, I suppose the sky would be the limit. But I'm going to echo you and Bob on this. As far as the reserve, I'm guessing it's very close to the BIN price. Anyone know what the record price for a BA is on Ebay? Bill

Well, the last time a KCK cylinder was on eBay a couple of years ago it sold for just over $3400, so relatively speaking, $3200 is ballpark. As some of you may recall, I had the 'opportunity' to buy a copy for only $750 at that same time but the seller was a non-starter. One of the few stones in my shoe is how certain members of that board rushed to defend the seller when I called his bluff and attacked me! Never could figure that one out (well, actually, I can) especially in light of recent events. At any rate, it was amusing to watch certain very large rats run off that ship . . . to me anyway. Sorry to dredge all that up but it still makes my **** itch as my grandmother used to say! John M

I recall that the Blue Amberol of "You're the Cream in my Coffee" also sold on Ebay for approximately $3200 about 1-1/2 to 2 years ago.

Why on erath, would some one pay that much for a record? Anyone who does, should have their head examined. Paul

Paul A person subsisting on a middle class income who spends that kind of money for a cylinder should indeed have his head examined. However, there are many wealthy people for whom $3200 is pocket change. And I'm not one of them! Rocky

That's why, I only pay $5.00 for a cylinder.
I could buy a car, for that kind of cash.

And the thing about that record is that unless the new owner shares it value with family, when they pass away one of us could get a box of cylinders from the estate for $50 and there it would be along with Cream in my coffee, 11 Let us not forget (Full versions) and 5 Teddy Roosevelts.
