Hi, My name is Steve Andersen and I am a new member in this forum. Just wanted to say hello. I started collecting phonographs at the age of 13 in 1974. My primary interest is Edison outside cylinder machines. Thanks, Steve

Hey Steve! Welcome a-board! I'm up late tonight because we're in the midst of tornado watches and warnings. I've been collecting for almost 41 years . . . I started summer of '67 when I was ten. I went with my older sister to visit one of her friends from high school and they had an upright machine in their dining room. I had never seen or heard anything like it! That summer, I bought my first phonograph -- a Columbia 'Symphony' at Hickey's flea market in Clarence, NY for $2.00. A few weeks later, I bought a Model C Home for $15.00, and I was off and running. My family lived in Buffalo, NY at the time, and in 1969, I saw an ad in the paper for an Edison Standard for $25. I called, and it was Paul Baker, who is now a top-tier restorer/dealer. I was 12 at the time and Paul was 14 or 15. We used to drive all over western NY hitting antique shops before either one of us was old enough to hold a driver's license! Well, according to the weather reports, the storm is approaching Louisville. It's raining and blowing harder. Lights are flickering occasionally and I hear the warning siren going off, so I'm signing off. I may have to tote some stuff down the basement. Welcome! Later! Bye! Luke W.

Steve,
Welcome! You'll find a great bunch of folks here. Jump right in. As I'm sure you've seen anything phonographic goes around here, from the heavy to the light, but always fun!
Luke,
Get you Keester down the cellar! Good luck!
Regards, John

Good morning! We had a hook forming over our specific town, so I carried Operas, Vic V and banjos downstairs, but no funnel formed. Put everything back and finally went to bed. More than twenty-five people died overnight as a result of this storm. Thanks for the good advice, Neo, and Steve (the actual subject of this thread), again -- welcome. Look forward to hearing from you often. Luke
