The serial number is stamped at the top of the base of the horn connector on this particular part.

Hi Frank & Shane. I've run into several Model C reproducers here in the US that have copper diaphragms and serial numbers at the base of the horn connector. I think the ones on the domed body were earlier production examples. I think it was around 1906 or 1907, Edison ran into patent troubles with using mica and went to copper. These were part of the same legal troubles that led to dropping the end-gates in the later machines. Frow details this in an appendix in "The Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion". Perhaps Edison's remaining stocks of mica Model Cs were sent overseas to use up the stock reserves? Martin
