Read the previous posting about how I fixed the governor springs (by just bending them back). The diaphragm is one of the cheap cardboard ones off of ebay. Not great, but it doesn't sound too terrible. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkyLxg8fSEw

It sounds pretty good! It's always nice to get these things working again. You should be able to find an original diaphragm if you're patient and watch the ebay posts. I agree that an original will probably sound better. The stylus sounds good! Bob B.

I too think it sounds great. I would also look around for an original diaphragm, but i think you'll find very little difference in the sound quality, so don't expect miracles. I think because they are a fairly small diaphragm, the sound quality between the two is much closer than a new & original in a diamond disc reproducer. It's really scrubbed up well, & you must be feeling pretty proud to have resurrected what many collectors would part out. It was well worth the effort you put into it, and another Amberola 30 can now give service for another 50-100 yrs. Congrats!

Many thanks I hope my new governor springs run even quieter. I am also amazed how well this cheap ebay diaphragm + gasket kit for $12 worked out. Who'd a thunk it?

The mirror the player is on caused the fabric color to photograph unevenly.

It looks fantastic! Did the new governor springs arrive & solve the speed problem?

They arrived this morning. Wyatt's did a great job changing out the springs on my original weights. Now I have to keep the speed control cranked WAY down otherwise the cylinders sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks!

Now I have to keep the speed control cranked WAY down otherwise the cylinders sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks! Your governor is too far back on the shaft. It needs to have the disc colser to the speed pad than you have it. That's why it's too fast. After adjustment, re adjust speed. Bill Cahill ;D
