I cannot say that I’ve ever seen Sir Harry Lauder on a Victor red seal, but it’s quite easy to find blue and purple seal records of his songs, and I’m hardly an expert on his discography. If you could provide more information about the record—e.g. at least the song title(s) and record number, but better yet, a photo or scan of it—then it would be a lot easier to give you an opinion, but I doubt it’s likely to be worth any more than any other Victor red seal, unless whoever you try to sell it to is a Sir Harry Lauder fan. I don’t believe any of his Victor recordings are particularly scarce. — MordEth

I'd have to agree. Everything Lauder recorded sold in huge numbers, so none of his records would be hard to get. I've got a heap of his earliest G&T 10" records, & I doubt they'd even sell for much more than $10 a piece because there's so many copies out there. All his HMV, Victor & Zonophone records usually sell for a dollar or two. I have seen some of his 2 minute wax records sell for $15-$20, but only certain titles. BA's tend to fetch around $5-$7.

Bill,
I'm thinking that your maroon Victor Harry Lauder is one of the later electrically recorded "Scroll" records. Those are the only red seal records by him that I have seen.

Actually, if I remember correctly, he was recording for G&T (gramophone & Typewriter Co) well before Edison? I think it was 1907 or 08 when he started recording cylinders for Edison, and had been recording for Pathe cylinders since about 1904. His contract with G&T was for disc records only, which left him free to record for cylinder manufacturers, and this is why he appears on Edison cylinders but not diamond disc's. I think he made very few recordings for Victor in the USA, except around 1911, and the majority of the rest were G&T/HMV masters pressed by Victor. This is my earliest recording by Lauder, from Dec 22, 1903 on the G&T label.
