My Opera springs bit the dust night before last -- tempted to say in the middle of "Make That Trombone Laugh for the 450,000 Time", but I'd be lying! The machine is serial #101 -- obviously early, I just don't know HOW early. I'm in Bloomington, IN. If anyone could recommend someone in the Midwest who I could trust with this, I would appreciate it. Would like to keep the repair close to home -- if possible.
I am -- by the way -- the nut who paid $1,500 for the L-19 recently on Ebay. No regrets -- other than the $95 speeding ticket I got about 3 miles before getting back onto Interstate...... 653 miles in about 12 hours to pick it up. The machine is about as close to perfect as it could be. Looks like something from "The Adam's Family"!
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Davis

#101! Nice and very early, probably the 1st month of production in late fall of 1911. Does it have a Mod.L Reproducer or the later Mod.A? Chances are that only one of the two springs broke on you so it shouldn't be too costly.

Bill, It came with only the "L". Dealt with that for about 10 years. Got a "Diamond-A" from Bob Johnson (Mr. Victor) about 2 years ago. If you've never seen his website, check it out! Amazing stuff! Nice guy. Bought a VE-XVIII (American Walnut) & a Brunswick "Cortez" from him. He builds his own crates & packs the machines himself. You have to admire that! Davis

Davis Davis, Hope you didn't get rid of that Mod. L! They are tougher to find than the Mod. As and have some interesting variations as observed in the one Shellophone has. Bob Johnson ( very nice guy) recently sold 5 !!! Amberola 1-As at the Union Show from what I've been told. Buyer shall remain anonymous unless they wish to come forward. Bill
