Here are a few Pics on the lid restoration it had a very Bad patch non savable so I did use other means or fixing comments welcome many Thanks from William shenette The Old patch Job under the patch job patch to right that I lifted I Used these things and with some time and Using My heart and my hands with Guidance from My Angel whom is in heaven I restore this Edison in her memory I got these results still need shellac and to fasten the top on to the lid is just placed on not attached yet Here is the Photobucket to the other pics that are Much eiser to see if you click on them they will become larger all comments welcome but Please be easy I am tender hearted Thanks so much s91.photobucket.com/albums/k316/radioman56/

Well, I think you're doing a magnificent job so far William. I think you did the right think reveneering the entire surface of the inner lid. Patching small edge chips can usually be disguised, but a large square patch in the middle of the lid would be impossible to match the grain & colour, so would always look patched. I think you're going to have a very nice looking Amberola 30 when it's finished. I'd still love to know why that patch was put in, in the first place The wood wasn't scorched under the patch was it? The only thing I can think of is they might have had a candle sitting in the machine to see where to lower the stylus, and the flame burned the veneer. Very strange. Keep up the good work, and posting your progress!

Important Update Just got tone shellacking with the Amber/orange shellacs looking really good ya can not tell the peace i replaced on the back as far as the top ill have to live with it Sincerely Bill Sr
