Hi.
I need a Cygnet Crane for an Edison Standard Model F. I need one with the deeper "set-back" for an "on top" reproducer configuration. Original is good, one that needs refinishing is even better. Thanks!

Martin,
You're better off getting a repro rather than paying the cost of re-nickeling an original that needs refinishing unless you own a plating shop! Many of the phono suppliers have these and they fit well with the original crane top sections if you have one.

Hi Bill. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably end up doing just that if one doesn't surface for the right money. Since I've got other parts needing re-plating and my brother's got a plating set-up, I thought I'd have a go at an original. If one doesn't, then I'll get a repro. Best Regards, Martin

Martin----Just a word of warning. Although your brother is knowledgeable in the area of plating, make sure the anodes are not CONTAMINATED, the solution is Pure and that you MAINTAIN the required electrical input and CONTINUOS movement of the parts being plated. Missing one of the above listed factors will render you with blackened parts and in simple "scientific terms" you are screwed.Plating is not like painting ------it is not without severe repercussions if not handled properly. Burning and pitting Cannot be repaired. Good luck in your choice Martin and all of your future phonograph endevors. Michael

Thanks Michael! I'll be careful. You are right: blackened, pitted parts are way worse than blackened, pitted toast!
