Great machine, one of my favorites an the one currently sitting in the living room. Mine is oak also but yours is the darker version, mine is more the waxed effect. I love oak because so often you can save the original look without having to go to extremes.
I don't know about yours, but I learned the hard way that mine had no shield in front of the governors that my larger machine has. I ended up with oil on the grill cloth after oiling the pads with a bit too much oil.

Glad yall like it Mine does have the shield in front of the governor. It was never removed from the cabinet until I played with it...the felt pads were still in place on the bedplate mounts. Finish wise, I left it alone. I cleaned some of the old wax off it where the wax looked more like dirty smudges (on the areas that had the most handling more or less), but opted not to clean the wood too much. I rubbed it down with linseed oil and that's about it.
