Well, I see it is, starting to pick up on this board? I have seen some new memebers, join! I for one am still a memeber of the OTVMMB, haven't really thought of leaving. I always would go on there, only becuse there was never a lot of traffic on this board, in my oppinion. That's just me. However, I am glad that it is, starting to pick up on here. I may not post on here a lot, but at least, when I do. I have gotten a lot of help and advice.

I too have deleted my account with the other board. This board i find to be as informative and as thus keeping with phonograph related discussion.

For the record (pun intended), the purpose of THIS board is to talk about phonographs and all that pertains to them, and to have fun doing so. I am the moderator for this board, and speak for "it" - I have not "trashed" the OTVMMB here, nor do I intend to do so. There's a lot of great info over there - certainly worth checking out.
I do not believe that a person stating that they have "deleted their account" qualifies as "trashing", nor do I believe that expressing an OPINION qualifies as "trashing".
Again for the record: post here, don't post here, post elsewhere, don't post elsewhere, post both places, post at neither - this is the land of the free; hence, you are free to do as you like. It doesn't affect me (or anyone else here, I hope) in the least - this is not a business; there is no money involved; I do not lose sleep over what is or is not said here, and I hope that no one else does either. This is a place where we can share our knowledge, commiserate over lost phonographic treasures, talk shop, and maybe even poke fun at ourselves along the way. Visiting this board should be a positive experience - the only time a moderator should have to have to "step in" is when we start to veer off that path.
Might I suggest that we be careful to not take ourselves too seriously here? We are not discussing surgical techniques that may potentially save lives, or sharing scientific information that could potentially lead to curing a fatal illness; we are talking about historical interests - still very important, but not in the same league.
NOW: I hope we can continue to talk about our hobby/addiction, and have a good time in doing so.
Best to all,
Matt

Thanks Matt, for moderating this board in a straightforward, sensible way.

The tone of a group appears to be set from the top down. If it seems like "tongue in cheek" comments can be tossed into any discussion causing havoc to the thread then your going to get those who's main goal is to follow that pattern. It the "Ego" of human nature to try and mimic or outdo someone else, especially someone who should know better. That fortunately is not the case here. A little "honest" banter can be fun. But expanding to half, or no truths for the sake of effect belittle the whole experience. It quickly becomes very tiring. It is apparent that is not going to change since "no problem" exist.
I moderate two groups. If I experienced a number of people leaving due to my or others actions I would take it seriously, not attack those those who left.

Oh, and by the way, on the OTVMMB Ultona=Garret=Joblowhard and many, many more according to the logs. You guys got him, now you can live with him. Have a nice day! I'm going to say this for the last time, Dan. I AM NOT Garret. Plenty of people here and on the other board can verify that. Sheesh. Just read your posts, Larry and Don, well said. Hats off to Matt for doing a great job here as well. I'm going to try and be more active here. It's a real shame about the other board, it certainly isn't a very "inviting atmosphere" over there these days and I feel partly responsible for speaking my mind, but something had to be said. Sean

Well, now I know where everyone is, and I am happy to see traffic on here.
