I also got a disc I'll be posting about soon. 2553 sounds odd. It doesn't look out of round but it's got a definite warble to it I never get tired of Il Trovatore! Love it, yes I do! (& Sousa for that matter...........) ;D Regards, J.

Gents, Got some goodies today ;D (BTW I forgot all about the disc record didn't I. I can't even remember what it was now. A bad case of C.R.S.!!!) 3904 (..7) Train Time At Pun'kin Center ;D 3101 (..35) Ellis March Inst. Duet Ford Hawaiians ;D ;D ;D 3284 (..7) Dear Old Fashioned Songs, Etc. G. McFadden ;D ;D ;D 2367 (.5) On The High Alps Venetian (inst) Quartet ;D ;D ;D 3290 (..4) All The World Will Be Jealous Of Me I. Kaufman ;D ;D ;D ;D 3599 (.9) In The Land O' Yamo Yamo B. Murray & Cho. ;D ;D ;D 1793 (.12) Whistling Jim Ada Jones ;D ;D ;D AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ;D 3220 (..20) The Liberty Bell March N.Y. Military Band ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I love it! I've been so impatiently waiting for this one! It's wonderful! Wonderful, but I did get two "clinkers" in this bunch: 10021 Talking The Last day Of School At Pumpkin Centre It's a black wax. It's not moldy as far as I can tell but very very worn. And what I assume is a Columbia 2 min job; 847. Song. Tipperary. Murray it has a patent date of July 29, '02 I'm not much of a fan of Uncle Josh so the wax wasn't much of a disappointment, however I am bummed out about the Tipperary. Earlier in the week I also got a very nice copy of 2147 (.4) On The Banks Of The Wabash Far Away Archibald & Chorus. Nice and clean, even the plaster is nice and white. Box and lid complete, but.... it won't fit on the mandrel completely-gotta get a Reamer. And I just noticed it's the first orange labeled BA box I have without TAE's image on it over the patent info. Anyone have ones like that? Regards, J.

I have the Zonophone recording of it. I think he also did it for Victor (memory failure at 8AM...hmmm...) - Rocky, help me out here! Sean

Sean,
I think you may be referring to Vic 5507 rel/08, or 16783 rel/11 on side B(same recording).

Maybe Rocky! And thanks! I just checked my "Murray Archive" and thus far, Victor 5507 isn't down there, unless in still in the crate of unsorted Murrays! Sean

No hurry John- it's not going anywhere ;D You'll be able to add it to the cylinder album on your yahoo group too(hint hint) I wonder if Steve or Phil's come across one before. The only BA box I've seen minus "the face" are the BA concert boxes.
BTW: Is there a form number on the label?

Gents, Well Even though it turned out to be shopping night (Wild crazy kids we are-shopping on Friday night ) I pulled out the cylinder boxes to take some comparison shots. I lied, I apparently have at least three with out Old Tom's image. Of the one's with his image, I have three different varieties. The relatively crude line drawing-ish one on the left is the only one of that type I have. The man did not believe in smiling did he! I got two more cylinders yesterday... ;D Pardon the pun, but they're rolling in 3722 (. 16 or 18) Peace Chimes N.Y. Mil Band It came in one of those nice black boxes with just "Edison" on it in gold script. And.....It looks purple-ish to me. Is it? Is It? ;D I thought it was black at first, but looking at it through a glass under a bright light to get the mold number I was very surprised. It's a wonderful piece too! The other is 4M. 3026 Though Your Sins Be As Scarlet Stanley & Burr [Pat. July 29, '02] Real peppy number Is this one Columbia? It's got the Columbia type metal ring and cardboard interior. It came in a blue type BA box. 'Got these two on the 'Bay for .99ยข plus shipping ;D ;D ;D Don't know what it is about these dashed BA's, must be something addictive in the celluloid ;D Regards, J. P.S. Shane, the BA boxes w/o TAE have " 3509-125 M-418" printed on them over the notice box. The top portion of the patent notice box reads: and so forth.

Important Addendum to the previous postingUpon further examination it appears that cranky old Tom was considering the slim possibility of a slight yet sly grin on the older Gold Moulded & green type wax 4 min. Amberola boxes, but it could just be my imagination Regards, J.

John,
The deep blue box with the gold Edison script was for the Grand Opera/Concert series. The ones you depicted were the last style BA boxes. They first used the old style top that were used on the blue BA boxes. the latter were the "bottle cap" style that usually went missing five minutes after you bought the cylinder as they didn't fit down too far on the box!!
