I noticed this morning that the negative attacks are still ongoing on the OTVMMB, and I refused to read the thread in question. The world of phonographs and old records is hardly a topic conducive to controversy. I am happy that this board is free of that kind of negativity.

The Ebay posted description that was made by this individual was, quite frankly, over the top. I missed the posts from the other night between Dan & this individual, but was updated by another member as they had been deleted. The issue should have died there, but this asshat chose to create a disparaging description of a phono photo using Dan's surname in said description. He has also gone off on me several times, with very bizarre sexual references. This of course is something Dan has to take care of, and why he hasn't is rather perplexing. We do get silly here at times, but not to the extent nor the nastiness of the other board. Other brands of phonos can be discussed here without fear of a member constantly knocking another brand ad nauseum. I would hope that the membership grows here due to people jumping ship from the other board due to the incessant nonsense that goes on there.

When I had started, collecting Edsion Phonogrpahs, this was the frist forum, I found for Edsion phonogrpahs. I never knew about the OTVMMB, until Phil'O had invited me to join. I have posted a few time on there, but for the most part, the majority of posts have been listed on this forum. When ever I go to the OTVMMB, I always see more traffic there, then I do on here. I have learned so much form so many people on here, then I would on thr other board. Only becuse, my posts relate to Edsion Phonogrpahs, then to any other phonogrpahs, and if I want to talk about other phonogrpahs, there is a section on this board, where I can do just that. I know little nipper (little punk) only likes the 78's and Victrol's and has a dislike, almost a hatered towards Edison's. Which is his prerogative, but that does not give him the right, to bash, or critisize other people. Anyway, my point is this, I happen to like all phonographs, not just Edsion. The reason, why I bought an Edsion, was becasuse I had never seen one before, but had seen lot's of Victrola's. Also, becuse I had an Edsion Dsic, and when I found the machine, I knew this was something I just had to buy. I'm not saying a Victrola, would not give me any satisfaction, the way the Edsion has, but the excitement level for me would not be the same. Only becuse I find more 78's then I do DD's. To me it's the thrill of the hunt to go loookig for DD's, and now cylinders as well. I'm not saying I would never one a Victor Machine, but it needs to be the right one. Edsion will always be my passion, and favorite, but I am not excluded to just Edsion. After all, I have ads for svereal machine that are not Edsion's, plus a statue, of the Victor Talking Dog, "Nipper" Oaky, I'll get off my soap box now. I just felt this needed to be said. Even though this topic, has strayed off topic. it was never my intention, or concerne, whether, this topic, stayed on topic or not. I just wanted to give people a chance to express themselves however they wanted. I value each and everyone's opinion!

I suppose only Dan can answer that as he logs the IP addys. I DO remember though that you stood up for Chantez, so your posts are irrelevant to me. Forgive me for being blunt, but that is the way it seems to me. I can call up the post if you wish. Bill

I only stated the facts and that was that you mentioned he started his records at $49.99 and if GKMNEWPORT did not bid then they went unsold as a rule. So I checked his completed items and out of about 90 records he only had 3 or 4 that didn't sell.I wasn't sticking up for him I was scratching my head as well!

Yes Paul. This seems to be the starting price for this guy's electric DD's. I picked one up from over there a week or so back, but only because one of the labels was missing. I've only got half a dozen or so electrics, so I'll grab any cheap ones I see. I'll never try to resell them, so if they're cheap because of a missing label, I don't mind them. I'll just enjoy the music!

Well, I think, I'll just stick with disc's that I can afford. I prefer to buy those $10.00 and under, preferably between $2.00 and $5.00.
On a side note, this is the longets thread that I have posted on any single BBS Forum, and I am a mebere of a few, though not a reagular visitor, to all of them. I have never had a psot reach 5 pages in length. Of course by now, we have staryed way off topic, and I have forgoten pretty much what we were orginally talking about? Then again, these thing's tend to happen, when a topic, exceedes 1 page in legnth.

I'm starting to appreciate the wisdom of mandatory registration. Sure, it's not ideal and it can shut out casual participants who may have something of value to contribute. However, after seeing the hateful guest posts at the other message board, I believe that mandatory registration may be the only effective way of dealing with the situation.

I have to reluctantly agree with Rocky on the mandatory registration. This asshat is really getting out of hand, and Dan is either unable or unwilling to stop it.

When you get right down to it, whatever a person posts is up to the quality of their character. . . .'nuff said, I think. . .

If it were my group I would not allow the level of discourse shown in those rants. It has nothing to do with the subject matter and cheapens the hobby and certianly reflects poorly on the moderator and participants as well. If the "dog" got no response he would basically be through.. but I would take it a step farther and hit eh "Ban" on the membership list..

Now that I think about it, it does take two to have an argument and it appears the moderator revels in the attention as much as the disturber. So in that case its not about to stop.

Gents,
This afternoon and yesterday the other board seems to be reaching for a new low. It's a damnable shame. I know from personal experience that it's very hard to ignore personal attacks. I would like to jump in to defend my friends Bill and Dan, but I'd only end up adding more fuel to the fire.
Regards, J.
